Los Angeles: A Step Forward film premiere at L.A. Asian Pacific Film Festival

Sunday at 2 PM - 4 PM

Aratani Theatre at the JACCC

244 S San Pedro St, Los Angeles, California 90012

Catch the world premiere of A Step Forward, a short documentary film about Filipino senior citizens in Westside Long Beach who find community by forming a weekly Walking Club. In the heart of a former U.S. Navy town with a history of gang violence, environmental pollution, and neglect by the local government, the Filipino Migrant Center started a Walking Club at Hudson Park and brought together long-time residents to engage them in improving their health and their neighborhood. As they get to know each other and share their common experiences, they begin to realize that they have the power to make changes in their community. Filmmaker Eric Tandoc will be present at the screening along with members of the Filipino Migrant Center Walking Club. Much thanks to Visual Communications, Filipino Migrant Center, Asian Pacific Community Fund, and Los Angeles Chinatown Firecracker Run for your support! #AStepForwardFilm #FMCWalkingClub -------------------- Premiere screening is followed immediately by a series of short films: 'Digital Histories 2017: Past Informs the Future' The stories from the past, help inform the future. The Digital Histories program engages the passion of our elders to tell their stories and learn the craft of filmmaking. This year the Digital Histories filmmakers not only told their stories through the documentary form but as well as experimental and narrative shorts.
